New Nouvelle Vague!!

This won’t be an official review (you’ll find those here every Monday from now on), but I do want to alert you that those purveyors of bossa nova covers of new wave and punk songs are back with what is probably their best album yet. Yes, it’s another set of ’80s classics and forgotten tracks re-done with a Caetano Veloso beat, but this time the lady singers are joined by some of those songs’ original singers. Martin Gore joins in on opener “Master & Servant” (definitely one of the Mode‘s best songs), and Terry Hall duets on a version of his and Jane Wiedlin‘s “Our Lips Are Sealed.” Other highlights include a cover of Plastic Bertrand‘s “Ça Plane Pour Moi,” The Psychedelic Furs‘ “Heaven” and Gary Numan‘s classic “Metal.”

Nouvelle Vague 3 is out June 15th in Europe, with an American release date soon after. You can stream the whole album on the band’s MySpace right now!
