Aural Fixation: Agent Ribbons

Sacramento trio Agent Ribbons is the kind of band whose entire image goes along perfectly with the kind of music they make.  Natalie, Naomi and Lauren favor a lo-fi aesthetic that doesn’t sacrifice melody or hooks in the name of sonic squall.  They’re also not entire cut from the same cloth as Dum Dum Girls or Best Coast, either.  Rather, a jazzy, sepia-toned aura is conjured from the songs on their new album, Chateau Crone.  Jumping around between a few different styles doesn’t hurt, either.  There’s some garage, surf, cabaret, Balkan and Spanish influences, and that’s just the beginning.  Having toured with bands like Camera Obscura and Girl In A Coma, Agent Ribbons are a group to watch out for.
